How Bank Staff Rewarded This Year?

Compared to previous years, information about Lunar New Year bonuses of bank staff this year is few, staff also do not expect to receive “big” bonuses as per rumour.

Nearly a month before the Lunar New Year of 2019, if in previous years, information about the bank’s bonuses has appeared massively in the market, this year, the information about bonuses is very few.

According to the survey of reporter, most banks will paid the 13th month salary for employees on the recent New Year of 2019 occasion.

However, Lunar New Year (Tet) is the time when there is the most significant bonus in the year, and also the rewards. But not many bank employees believe that this year they will receive a “huge” bonus even though the profitability of banks last year has increased dramatically.

Thu Minh (26 years old), teller of Asia Joint Stock Commercial Bank (ACB), said that she recently received her 13th month salary, and that Lunar New Year and retiree bonuses would have to wait until 20-25th of this month. “The bonus will be only 2-3 months of salary, at most. Branches in HCM City are likely to get higher thanks to efficient operation. In general, ACB’s bonuses are hardly as large as people think,” said Minh.

Sharing with Zing.vn when he was at the deputy general director of ACB, Nguyen Thanh Toai said that the bonus rate per year depends on the profit results of the bank. Therefore, if the bank exceeds the profit plan, the reward will surely increase.

Many bank leaders declared “huge” Tet bonuses for their employees in previous year, also proved cautious this year.

According to them, Tet bonuses depend on the business results of the bank, but all staff have KPI from the beginning of the year. At the end of the year, the bank only needs to review the KPI result available to assess the level of work completion of the employees that there will be specific rewards for each person.

“Banks exceed the target, they will reward you more happily, but in general KPI has been available since the beginning of the year so there will be no high level bonuses,” a bank leader shared.

On 28th January, Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Techcombank) will provide bonuses to its employees. However, the specific number has not been disclosed as in previous years, Techcombank was a bank that regularly promised a great bonus to its employees, up to 7 months’ salary.

Compared to the common ground, Techcombank belongs to the group with high reward rates. Last year, employees at excellent bank branches received up to 2.5 month salary. In addition to the KPI result, the average employees of these branches are rewarded with a salary of 3.5 months.

“Employees who did an excellent job may be rewarded for 4-5 months, and a bonus of up to seven month salary is only for leaders,” said one bank employee.

In the past year, Techcombank’s profit has increased by 60 percent over the same period, reaching 6.209 billion dong. This is also the record profit that this bank created after the first nine months of the year. Even, the fourth quarter is always the most profitable business quarter for this bank.

Recently, staff of Maritime Joint Stock Commercial Bank (Maritime Bank) said that they have received notification of changes in welfare policy this year.

Accordingly, thanks to the pre-tax profit of 2018 surpassing the one trillion dong benchmark, the bank chair decided to add a bonus of an average monthly salary to the employees who are highly rated.
